Princeton was incorporated in May of 1912. John K. Wilson was the first mayor following the incorporation. Located in the rich agricultural region of the Blackland Prairie, Princeton quickly became a retail and commercial center for area farmers. 

Princeton is one of the rapid growing cities in Collin County, Texas. Princeton is located in Northeast Collin County between the cities of McKinney and Greenville Texas on U.S. Highway 380.
